HHYF SCHOLARSHIPS
Applicants for HHYF scholarships
must be at least high school seniors and preferably under the age
of 25. The selection criteria for all of the scholarships include
demonstrated scholastic achievement, including but not limited to
the applicant’s GPA; financial need; completeness of application;
and quality of essay (where applicable).

The Gallo Blue Chip
Scholarship
Sponsored by Martin Scharf
Applicant must be child of harness horse trainer or caretaker licensed
in New York, New Jersey and/or Pennsylvania in the year of application. Applicant
must also have been raised and/or reside in the three-state region
and at least a senior in high school. Students pursuing graduate
degrees are not eligible.
The Curt Greene Memorial Scholarship
For students who have demonstrated a passion for harness racing
and have financial need. Applicant may or may not be pursuing a
career in harness racing industry. Applicant must be at least a
high school senior.
MHS Scholarship
Sponsored by Joe Putnam and Trent Stohler
Eligibility: Applicant must be pursuing higher education at college, university, or trade school and be enrolled as a full time student (12 credit hours minimum). Applicant, his/her parent(s), grandparent(s), and/or legal guardians must be licensed by Indiana Horse Racing Commission in year prior to application – only one relative must be licensed to be eligible. Applicant must be at least a high school senior. Awards totaling $650.
Sweet Karen Alumni Scholarship
Applicants must have previously attended an HHYF youth, leadership or HRYL summer program or a family weekend event. Amount and number of scholarships issued is at the discretion of the selection committee.The scholarship honors HHYF's 16-year-old trotter and Facebook sensation Sweet Karen.
The Charles Bradley Memorial Scholarship
Applicants must be children or relatives of racing officials who were members of the North American Judges & Stewards Association and/or licensed USTA pari-mutuel officials in the following categories: presiding judges, associate judges, paddock judges, & starters. Applicants must be at least seniors in high school. The Bradley Memorial was named in memory of Charles Bradley, a highly-respected state regulator and founder of the North American Judges and Stewards Association.
