CHICAGO HARNESS RACING YOUTH LEAGUE CAMP A HUGE SUCCESS
The Harness Horse Youth Foundation's Summer Camp at Odds On Acres in Crete, Illinois, is now history and was a rousing success for all attendees.
Kids from all over the Midwest enjoyed their experiences learning about grooming, nutrition and training of the harness horse. The youngsters -- ages 11 to 13 -- saw their week culminate by driving their harness ponies in a race at Balmoral Park on Sunday, June 22.
The first event went to Brandon Simpson and Katie Belle as they wired the field. Mike Oosting and Jake Mosely finished second, Ryan Anderson and Deeanna Daujatas ended up third, and Dave Magee and Austin Eddington were fourth.
The second event was won by Dean Magee and Christie Edwards, with Brent Holland and Bobby Crivokapich second, Homer Hochstetler and Frankie Ostrowski third, and Sam Widger and Taylor Davis fourth.
Established in 1976, the Harness Horse Youth Foundation addresses youth education throughout the United States and Canada. A charitable organization, the HHYF continues to enlarge and improve its programs.
