ABOUT THE HARNESS RACING YOUTH
LEAGUE
Harness
Racing Youth League is a summer camp program designed for young
people between the ages of 11 and 13 to experience harness racing
from the ground up. The camp is structured so that the novice and
the riding lesson student begin at the same place – basic horse
care.
Each day
features new activities relating to the industry while reinforcing
skills already mastered. By week’s end, all participants have absorbed
the excitement of racing. The highlight of the week is the actually
learning to drive which begins on the very first day.

HRYL also
offers a level 2 (and announcements about level 3 are soon to be
released!) for students who participated in level one or already
have some experience with racing. This event is co-sponsored by
the US Trotting Association. Held over three days, the event is
packed full of speakers and practical activities to further both
parents and their kids education about harness racing. Ages for
this event are 14 – 16.
